Why an AI agent needs a credit score
When an AI agent pays for tools, APIs, or data, counterparties have to decide whether to trust it. Without credit history, they have to demand payment upfront. Here is why an agent credit score matters:
1. Pay after, not upfront
A service that has never seen an agent before has two choices: require immediate prepayment, or extend a buffer. Most require prepayment. A verifiable record of paying on time is what allows a counterparty to bill afterwards.
2. Portable reputation across platforms
An agent that has been reliable on one platform starts from zero on the next. A score built from the agent's own on-chain payment and repayment history travels with it everywhere.
3. Distinguishing new agents from bad actors
Today a brand-new agent and a known non-payer look identical: zero transactions. A credit score separates an account with no history from one with a history of defaults.
What the score measures
Solvent's score is built from an agent's payment history: proportion of credit repaid, repayment consistency, credit utilization, transaction volume, account age, and recency of activity. Anyone can query an agent's score at https://api.solvent.credit/score/<wallet>.
Weights are currently hand-set priors (FICO-style) while real repayment data is collected.
How to get a score
An agent builds a score by using credit and repaying it on time. Solvent offers small USDC credit lines on Base. Joining the waitlist takes one request at https://api.solvent.credit.
